Dickie Temparature Gauge.
#1
Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else has the same problem I am encountering Confusedcratch:

I have a 2003 2.0hDi.

Intermittently my 'STOP' light flashes on the dash, I get a chiming warning noise and the temp gauge goes up to max.... It doesn't seem to happen at any particular time or after I've done anything...after a short time it stops and goes back to normal.

There is plenty water in the engine and it is not overheating Confusedcratch:

Changing the temperature sender unit fixed it for me on my old 2.0 HDI, but have a look at this thread:

Hi, does this only happen when the engine is warm ?
Could be the thermostat getting slow to open.
Do the cooling fans come on when you get the stop light?
Check the connections on the sender.
let us know what you find.

No, actually it has happened when I first turn the engine on from time to time.

I have located the green widget temperature sender unit that tc_1 has mentioned and think I will tackle that first to see if it helps

A quick check of the cooling fans is, disconnect the plug on the sender and turn the ignition on.

Fans are working OK, as I can hear them when I get out of the vanWink
