Berlingo won't crank over just clicks when key is turned
#1
Berlingo 1.6 hdi some times won't start or even crank over. It's only happens a few times but it's been worse lately. I get in my van turn the key and all you here is a click sound. I can some times just disconnect the battery and re attach it and all is fine it turns over like it should .Has any one any idea what's going on ??  I left work yesterday and it did the same thing but the battery had died so I had to jump start off another car. all was fine after about 10 miles the ABS light came on I parked up and turned of the engine to see if the light would go off it did , It then Wouldn't  start just made a clicking noise had to get a jump start again. The ABS light then disappeared and I drove it home another 15 miles all fine. Parked up and after my tea I went out every hour and this morning and it's started first time every time off the key . Any ideas advise please thanks guys I'm by no way a mechanic

I Kevin welcome to the forum
How old is the battery you need to get it checked first then check its being charged by the alternator. Check engine to body earth points and cables from battery to chassis and positive cables down to the starter motor. Then if you still having problems look at the starter motor.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Agree with it. The similar problem can appear when brushes of the motor are worn.

We had the same problem on our 1.6 petrol and it turned out to be the starter motor.
