Speaker recommendations please?
#1
I've finally reached the point where the buzzing from my door speakers has annoyed me enough to do something about it. I took the cover off on the drivers door, unscrewed the speaker to have a close look at it, and discovered that the paper cone is fine but the rubber around the edge has rotted away completely around half of it! I was hoping it would be a tear I could glue over, but this looks like more than I can fix Sad

Are there any good sounding drop-in replacements available for a reasonable price? No faffing about, just screw into place?

And what is the trick for unplugging the connector, when the time comes, please? Couldn't figure out how to seperate the speaker from the cabling!

I have a set of Alpine SPG17CS components in the front of mine, which are awesome, but a lot of fiddling. Do you have tweeters in your dash? I think most 16cm/6 inch speakers will fit, althogh you may have to cut the wires and crimp on connectors. If you put full range speakers in the door and do have tweeters, you may want to disconnect these otherwise you will end up with too much treble.

Pioneer do make a set of drop in replacement components but these will run to about £100, and from what i have heard they are not the best bang for the buck,
