M59 1.9 Diesel ECU/BSI kit
#1
Looking for the answer to what, I hope, is an easy question !!

Considering replacing ecu/bsi with a 'kit':
Bearing in mind the plethora of 'numbers' on ecu and bsi, which are the important ones, and how close a match is required?
Also, any words of warning ?

Many thanks in anticipation of reply.

Sorry for my ignorance but what is a "kit"?

Were I absolutely sure about the 'kit', I'd be able to answer my own question !

As far as I'm aware, the basic 'kit' would comprise the engine ecu, bsi (body control systems interface), key transponder and key from a VERY SIMILAR donor vehicle: Just how similar, I'm not sure.

Basically, I have a 2003 Berlingo Multispace Forte 1.9 Diesel with electrical issues which appear to be bsi related.
It's difficult to get the car to a main dealer garage in it's present non-starting state and, so as to be certain of starting with a clean slate, I am considering the 'kit' idea.
I could send the ecu and bsi to a repair company (such as BBA Reman) as an alternative.

Whether this reply makes things clearer, or murkier, I'm not sure !!

BBA is your best option just make sure they save your data and do not virginise your BSI or you will need someone with a lexia to reprogram it.

Ah !
This brings up another point.
I bought the car with the problem..... BUT I think the previous owner may have tried to 'repair' ....... possibly by getting another used bsi...

So I don't know whether the ecu and bsi are compatible/original !! The numbers on the bsi are difficult to read - appear to be 9650581580 or 9650481580 or 9650381580 - Citroen main dealer unable to confirm if this is the original bsi !!! They say they don't hold that information (Hmmm).
Ecu is 9650359580.

Is there anyone who would be able to confirm originality of bsi from these numbers??

Whilst tempted by the BBA route, I feel I need to be sure that the bsi IS the original one.
Any idea as to how I can verify this??

Short answer no but someone may come along in a bit with the answer - if not try the Citroen forum

The only thing in a bsi that can't be rewritten is the immobiliser code, get this from Citroen for your chassis number and attempt to program a key with it, if it's the right bsi for the vehicles chassis number then the code will be as per citroens records ?

Brilliant ! Thankyou for that.
Had thought there must be some 'simple' way to check: Now, to get the imm code from the Main Dealer !!
