Tyres and wheel sizes
#1
Hi Guys

I have just purchased a berlingo car with a view to converting it to a micro camper.
I need to change the tyres and wondered if anyone can tell me what sizes will fit the car.i fancy some nice alloys but would welcome the max and minimum sizes I can use , they are currently 185/50/16

i have sightly modified wheel housings and I'm using 195/75/16 tyres. I think that it's close to max diameter that fits. i don't recommend to use smaller than 14" wheels. also if you change to bigger diameter you may have to adjust speedometer.

offset (ET number) is also important. original offset is 18mm. much bigger ET number will cause problems, because rear tyres are touching car body.

175/65R14, 175/60R15, 195/55R15, 205/45R16, 205/40R17, 215/35R18 should fit without modifications. (M59).

What tyre size to use on peugeot 406 coupe 16 inch steel wheels? Rim and tyre calculator shows that equivalent diameters to 185/65 R15 tyres are:

195/55 R16 ( 1 mm shorter diameter ) 622 mm (R15)vs 621mm (R16)
or
205/55 R16 622mm(R15) vs 632mm(R16)

probably. Depends on offset (ET-number) of wheels.

Have a look here but don't take it as 100% correct, just a very good estimate.

You might want to double check on here, things can vary a little from site to site but chances are the first one is correct:
