1.6Blue HDI Timing recall
#1
Hello,

In our country some (or may be all...) 1.6BlueHdi owners have recently received a letter inviting them to contact a dealer in order to replace a timing belt.

The dealer replaces the timing belt and the pulleys of the crankshaft, camshaft and the injection pump.
Anyone heard of this? What is the reason for the recall?

Thanks.

The pulley of the injection pump replaces separately. I saw the dealer's recall list. And it is driven by a timing belt.

Why should it be replaced? ... that's the question.

There was a timing belt recall for all 1.6 HDi's in the Picasso - something to do with a potential oil leak from a seal if i recall.

Had ours done a couple of years ago

Yes I think it was this. I complained about an oil leak appearing to come from tappet cover at about 2 yr old vehicle & was told this was recall as necessary if leak occurred & it was leak due to insufficient sealant used on camshaft carrier which fits on top on cylinder head underneath tappet cover. A 4 hour job done under warranty & they also replaced cam belt.
