OBD fault code P0200
#21
(18-07-2014, 12:41 AM)pitpan Wrote:  Could be all down to a dirty MAF sensor or Map sensor or the cat has done one a loose plug or just a bad coil it's anyone's guess but if all seems to work then that's good. My P0200 code reader says check coil, plugs, MAF sensor, cat, wires and driver, whatever and where ever that is.

Hope it doesn't come back but make sure you clear the fault from the ecu by disconnecting the battery or using a code reader tool.

Or he diagnosed something incorrectly and voila you've just blamed a dealer, (I'm not saying this has happened but (we get people in work who ask us to fit parts and then get mad when it doesn't fix it... Erm you asked us to fit it) it's hard to "mess something up" while fitting a coil pack and plugs, maybe it is the first step in diagnosis, but as you seem to think fixing a car is easy you should be a mechanic with modern cars, the more complex they make systems the harder it is to pinpoint what's actually faulty, its often a case of trying something with odd problems and seeing what happens

I am not saying your wrong by saying go back to the dealer, however to say they've messed something up from the comfort of your PC chair is wrong... They have to start somewhere... Try going back with an open mind and asking them to have a look again as the problem has persisted, they are human after all... Be a cocky t**t with them ala "you've broken my car" and they probably will treat you with the same back, ask them what they think and don't attack them and they will be far more helpful... At the end of the day if the op's car wasn't broke in the first place he wouldn't have been at the dealers would he??

Dumdum
I haven't diagnosed anything incorrectly I used a code reader and it gave two faults P0200 & P0300, Citroen oz changed the coil and plugs last year after supposedly putting it on their Lexia to find the faults, then this year it happens again back I go to Citroen only for them to say no codes show up on Lexia but they "suspect the tappets" (go figure) But I will not blame them, it's an old vehicle and these things happen. I just change parts as I go now hence I'm changing the MAP sensor today and the CAT next week plus check the plugs and wiring then If all else fails I will get the injectors changed.....simples

I wouldn't worry too much about dumdum.

He gets tetchy when people suggest that a garage has messed things up.

Just sing a lullaby to him and he will calm down.

And don't ask him if garages would attempt to rip someone off if they come across as not having a clue about cars as he might blow a gasket! (Disclaimer - there are lots of good garages out there too)
