Also, as everything was already on the table, cleaned and renewed the lubricant on all moving parts/shafts + new O-rings on shaft ends:
So far wipers work again nicely on low speed.
A good bit of 'proper' mending! If in desperation you need new brushes go to a washing machine service centre - they'll have lots of different sorts and its very easy to sand down the brush to fit the holder.
