Rear axle Tension rod

Hi all .

I am looking for some advice , I have a 03 2L diesal belingo multispace , which needs the main rear trosion bar changed , citron want £140 for a new one but after some looking and talking around I had some advice to just change the whole rear axle with a second hand one .
It seems the rear axle may already be bent as both rear wheels  tilt inwards from the top .

So does anyone have all or some advice on this problem or where to best source a scound hand rear axle from .

I have picked up a slavaged full back axle today from a place in Bridgeport Dorset for £120 cash .

When you swap the axle you will need long star drive bits to remove the bolts on the rear mounts, they are the same size as the ones for the front mounts, but are accessed through holes in the axle casting. It is also worth spraying loads of penetrating fluid inside the box section where the axle mounts or the captive nut can spin. (Don't ask how I know!) The manual tells you to disconnect the brake pipes to the rear, but if you get a long piece of string you can loop it over the roof and suspend the calipers or back-plates. I don't think I removed the hand brake cables either. The load sensing valve can also be left connected if you suspend it from the underside. Rear silencer and spare wheel hanger has got to come off though.
Repair of the rear axle on these things is virtually impossible for the home mechanic, a swap is the only answer, I paid £300 for a re-con axle delivered for the sake of a couple of £20 bearings, Chitroen shite!
