on the subject of door locks and keys
#1
Hi fellow Berlingoers

As i only got 1 key with my 2001 Berlingo van
I was wondering if they all came with central locking.
I have yet to do any work on this van so i havent had time to remove door panels to see if it does have this type of locking.
But the key i have is of the non key-fob type and only operates the drivers door and ignition .
If you have knowledge on this matter then please share Big Grin

Hi petesta if its a basic van and you have a flat key it more than likely hasn't got central locking, if it has central locking there will be a button above the radio to lock all doors. The cheapest and easiest way to fit central locking is to fit a kit like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-REMO...4d353f6083
I fitted this kit to my old van and its a doddle to fit and operate, well made and a bargain at that price.
Your key only working on the drivers door could mean the passenger lock barrel has broken, sometimes if the key is not fully inserted and then turned it rotates the barrel. You can get replacement barrels or get the barrel rebuilt to your key. Take the door card off and see what the door lock is doing when you turn the key.
Are we there yet????? Huh

I like your link to get central locking kit
very good idea and one i shall look in to .
I saw on ebay a set of 3 replacement door barrels with 2 keys £30 so i could just get the Hawk kit for the lesser price and use that instead

You could just make sure the key you have aint worn to much for the ignition barrel, if it is just get a blank cut and swap over your chip to the new blank.
