newby berlingo owner (not quite yet though)
#1
Hi, I am about to buy a Berlingo. The main question I would like to ask is: Why is there such a huge difference in the insurance groups of these cars (and probably other makes too).
The reason why I ask is that I've not had insurance for 6 years and being of an age ( I was 55 5 years ago) and the quotes are horrific. I am in East London E2 so any quotes will be higher than other areas.
I have found that the 1.6 VTR petrol model is around group 6 to 7. This is my preferred choice.
I would welcome any input from members about these models, and I am in the market for a car. Budget up to £3k.

Thanks in advance

I am so glad I moved from London to Snowdonia. The groups do vary based on claims experience for the insurers for various models. For cars like ours, certain models are more likely to be used for higher risk activities like day long short stop deliveries for example.

hi, yes, being a born and bread londoner is now not a cheap way to live. I have never made a claim (irrelevent) clean license, and 35 years a car dealer, means nothing to algorithms.
thx for the reply
