My rev counter doesn't work. Is there a common issue or any pointers to where the sensor/connectors are?

Ive had a look through my haynes manual and that was about as much use as a chocolate teapot about rev counters. Lets hope rustscrat comes along to point you in the right direction.
Are we there yet?????

Thanks for the reply anyway as I was considering buying a Haynes to help me out with it but guess I will wait for my next fault before shelling out on one.
