If your van does not have ABS or Stability Control it won't matter which way the bearing goes in.
I would of thought that if it was a bearing with the sensor pickups then it would be marked to indicate which side to face outwards.

I replaced both front wheel bearings about a year ago on my '06 Blingo van (2ltr HDi). I removed them myself (cow of a job) but had the new ones pressed in by local garage for £20. Here we are a year later and Ive replaced another (near side) and need to replace the other now. The previously new bearings were bought from Ebay for about £20 each. I wish I had bought SKF's or good decent ones first time around as the replacement job Im dreading.
Please note that when the first bearings went the symptom was a low grumbing noise at any speed above 10mph. There was no increase in noise at higher speeds and no increase in noise on cornering. There was no play in wheel either just the grumble noise. The defective bearing was only diagnosed by spinning the wheel on the jack and hearing the mild grating sound. In contrast, the new failed bearing only starts making a low noise at 20mph BUT when you get on a dual carriageway or mortorway up to 50mph and beyond the noise is seriously noticeable. My advice is to avoid cheap bearings and spend an extra tenner or so and get decent ones.
