Head gasket or oil cooler?
#11
Very interesting as I'm having the same problem. My water in filler etc has got oil residue in and almost a sludge on the filler cap. The filler cap is leaking so air so I will replace that I use no oil hats very clean no mayo but the rad does look to have brown sludge on cap.
I'm also looking to flush the water system did you buy the degreaser ?? I'm looking online for something now.

Cheers

I haven't sorted it out again yet. Am going to use an industrial degreaser low foam alloy and rubber safe.. jangro traywash. The best is forte bio degreaser.. is brilliant... But very expensive!

I'm defo going to try and flush the system this weekend ill look at a flush and check a couple of hoses for gunge/perishing... I don't no why I'm getting oil in if its old or new as I've only had me car a couple of months??
The temp never gets above a quarter/half on the gauge but I do have the heaters on high taking he heat from the engine. The oil is also clear and still on the top of the dipstick level haven't used any in my ownership !?!??
It's only a cheepy run around so not over keen spending ££££ on it so hope its nowt nor something!! Rolleyes

Cheers

Cool just googled the forte its only £12 think ill pick a bottle up tomorrow !!

Good stuff.

Regarding your temperature... you might want to change the thermostat? They are very cheap.....
and I think you need more than one bottle of forte bio degreaser....? Can't remember....
You probably want to take out the thermostat and flush through with a hose too if you can
There is also a coolant drain on the engine block above the gearbox, is usually a blanking cap and a clip.
Have seen people ignore this and there is a lot of old coolant in there!

Have fun!
