I have a 2.0 HDi Multispace Desire M59 and get a knock on starting and when turning off the engine. I think the engine (or something attached to it) is catching on the body somewhere but can't find where. I suspect the offside engine mount may be a bit soft, or perhaps even the one under the car which surrounds the offside driveshaft. Both look fine and are dry but it's hard to assess properly.

I have read elsewhere on this forum that the 2.0HDi is squeezed in to the space available and is a bit close as a consequence. Perhaps others might be able to suggest where to look.

Like yours, mine runs well, but the noise does irritate me slightly.
