Touch screen issues
#11
Hi folks. Just a quick update from me regarding my touch screen issues.

As well as the system rebooting itself and the clock flashing 00:00, a message was coming up quite frequently "tyre under-inflation detection system fault". I checked my tyre pressures a few times and they were spot on.

So I took the car to a Citroen main dealer today and they confirmed that a software update was required which they did. They said that both the re-boot problem and under inflation message were linked.

Drove it about 20 miles or so this evening, and stopped and started the engine a few times. All seems well now.

Will report back on here again in a couple of weeks with a further report hopefully to confirm all is still okay.

Luckily the vehicle is covered by a very comprehensive used car warranty so I didn't have to pay for the update.

Thanks again to Zion and others for comments and advice.

You download the files and use them yourselves at your own risk, but from all accounts, these are correct and have been virus scanned (though check with your own scanner for your own peace of mind)

By following these links, provided free of charge, and available on the internet, you accept responsibility for checking they are suitable for your head unit and that the installation is carried out correctly. Disclaimer over, the head unit will tell you if they are too old, or not suitable and it will not use them if so. This means it should be safe to try if you aren't sure which one you have. On the head unit there is a menu where you can see the current firmware level, consult the handbook.

If the current firmware version on your touch screen is lower than the ones below, it will update. You cannot downgrade.

SMEG+ Firmware 5.43.A.R2 (<2GB)
https://mega.nz/#!kcUllCJD!qOUdBXHJqyv_i...QLhtqfEmDk

SMEG+IV2 Firmware 6.4.A.R10 PSA (<2GB)
https://mega.nz/file/ZBNxkRpT#Pw7MuZZIvU...o1CemllImE

Official SMEG latest version (large download over 8GB)
http://psa.download.navigation.com/autom...0-2001.ZIP

How to use:
  • Get a USB stick of 4GB to 16GB
  • Format the USB drive to FAT32 (VERY IMPORTANT!) in Windows explorer (no idea about MAC) and copy all files in the download to the USB. (extract them first, .tar .rar and .zip can be extracted using WinRAR free - google for it - then put the extracted files, onto the root of the USB stick)
  • Insert the USB with the system on and the engine running (outdoors) - the screen will prompt you to accept the upgrade and proceed
The update will take around 30 mins. Do not switch off the engine or play with the touch screen during the update - read a book or read your phone!

The extracted files will look something like this - copy the lot onto your USB and then use My Computer > USB Stick > right-click > Eject, once you are sure it is done copying the files (PC / Laptop):

One important thing if you want to avoid the no music file error, is to place all the files into a folder on the usb called
SMEG_IV2_UPG

on my non satnav version i needed software version 6.4.A.R10

Hi everyone, just a quick update.  Pleased to report that the software update done by the Citroen main dealer has cured the problem of the rebooting.  Still beeps and flashes up momentarily "tyre under-inflation detection system fault" when I switch the ignition on but that always immediately disappears then doesn't re-appear so I'm not bothered about that.

As a bonus the update seems to have given me more music "listening time" when I'm parked up with the engine off before the system shuts down.  About 20-25 minutes now, so I'm pleased with that!

Luckily I didn't have to pay for the update as it was covered by the used car warranty, but I did spot that £120 labour was quoted on the internal service document that was lying on the desk.

This - "tyre under-inflation detection system fault" - me too. Mine does that, flashes up sometimes.
Weirdly enough, I found that it rarely occurred if I turned the ignition on slowly, taking about three seconds, pausing before the starter motor engaged, then firing it up.
It happened that when I got the car, and it probably is just coincidence, but I often got a warning flash up, too fast to read, when I just started up at the normal speed of turning the key. It took me a while to see what the warning said.
Also three times the engine sounded as though a cylinder wasn't firing and other warning lights came on.
I'd switch it off, get out, lock the doors, walk twice around the car, get back in and it was then I started turning the ignition slowly and it starting up normally.

Yes, the stupid things you do and the superstitions you have with cars, coincidence or not, if it works, I'm going to keep doing it........
By the way, I walked anti-clockwise around the car. I did think of changing that but I didn't want to risk it.)
Now a 2019 K9 1.2 petrol.
Before a 2010 B9 1.6 HDi diesel.

Thanks Mark, that's interesting that you had that too.  I also had (but only once!) a message that all my four tyres were flat!  Which was strange as I was on the move and motoring along well at the time!  It was in the really hot weather last month - I wonder if the heat was upsetting the sensors?!  The joys of all these "modern" electrics!  I kinda miss my M49!  15 years with never one bit of trouble!

I like your walking "anti-clockwise" - I'll have to try that.  Cheers and best wishes.    Vivian
