Touch screen issues
#1
There have been a number of posts in the past about the central touch display screen going black, shutting down, and re-booting - thereby losing the clock settings etc. I have a 2015 Berlingo that has been doing this on and off for several months - sometimes every couple of weeks, sometimes every five minutes. I am going to have to sort it before it drives me mad. Am I right in thinking I need to go to a main dealer and get a software update?

Hi, just wondering if you resolved this?  I noticed just today that this happened on my newly acquired 2016 XTR Multispace - only the first time since I got it a few weeks ago, so I hope it's not going to be recurring!

Don't know if you've noticed, but this is a Citroen Berlingo car and van Forum, not a computer forum

Hi folks - could I just bump this thread please?

Wondering if anyone else has has come across this issue as highlighted in the OP?

I've had my 2016 XTR how for a couple of weeks and the touch screen has shut down and rebooted itself twice now.  After ignition is on and engine fired the screen goes blank then the Citroen logo come up in red which comes and goes a few times.  Then it reboots, and the clock flashes 00:00, which needs to be re-set along with the date.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.   Vivian.

I'm sure there is a software update for this Vivian, but you have to download the update straight onto a USB stick and then insert that into the head unit. it takes a while from what I've read and the engine has to be running the whole time. I tried to log into a site which has the update available but they never ever send the email to click and confirm registration.

If I get hold of it, I can post it here for you.

Many thanks Zion, that would be brilliant.

Ok, here goes. I take no responsibility for any issues following or during the update, nor does the forum. You download the files and use them yourselves at your own risk, but from all accounts, these are correct and have been virus scanned (though check with your own scanner for your own peace of mind)

By following these links, provided free of charge, and available on the internet, you accept responsibility for checking they are suitable for your head unit and that the installation is carried out correctly. Disclaimer over, the head unit will tell you if they are too old, or not suitable and it will not use them if so. This means it should be safe to try if you aren't sure which one you have. On the head unit there is a menu where you can see the current firmware level, consult the handbook.

If the current firmware version on your touch screen is lower than the ones below, it will update. You cannot downgrade.

SMEG+ Firmware 5.43.A.R2 (<2GB)
https://mega.nz/#!kcUllCJD!qOUdBXHJqyv_i...QLhtqfEmDk

SMEG+IV2 Firmware 6.4.A.R10 PSA (<2GB)
https://mega.nz/file/ZBNxkRpT#Pw7MuZZIvU...o1CemllImE

Official SMEG latest version (large download over 8GB)
http://psa.download.navigation.com/autom...0-2001.ZIP

How to use:
  • Get a USB stick of 4GB to 16GB
  • Format the USB drive to FAT32 (VERY IMPORTANT!) in Windows explorer (no idea about MAC) and copy all files in the download to the USB. (extract them first, .tar .rar and .zip can be extracted using WinRAR free - google for it - then put the extracted files, onto the root of the USB stick)
  • Insert the USB with the system on and the engine running (outdoors) - the screen will prompt you to accept the upgrade and proceed
The update will take around 30 mins. Do not switch off the engine or play with the touch screen during the update - read a book or read your phone!

The extracted files will look something like this - copy the lot onto your USB and then use My Computer > USB Stick > right-click > Eject, once you are sure it is done copying the files (PC / Laptop):

Zion - just to let you know that I have decided to return the vehicle to the dealer for them to do the update as it has a comprehensive 12 month warranty.

I will report back here in due course.  Thanks.   Vivian.

Good call Vivian, if I was in that position I'd have done the same. No doubt this will help others though.
