Idle temperature.
#1
Gave the Berlingo a service today (oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter) and I'm very impressed the way Citroen have made it so easy to service, finished up in 20 minutes! Brilliant!!

Question is.....at what temperature does the cooling fan come on??? I let it idle to about 95-100 and the fan still never came on so I stopped and never went any further. It's a 2004 1.9d

I've never had my fan come on at all and I've done 216k in it...Ian.

I tested a temperature sensor for a 1.4 petrol berlingo and it did not switch until 120 c., remembering that the system is pressurised it will not be boiling at that temp. The diesel run cooler but probably used the same sensor .

I like the sound of this, that's good to know, I don't really sit in traffic that long, so I could be in the same position as you

Thanks for the replies folks.

I have one more problem.......running temperature, I just drove 40miles and the temperature never once went to 90 deg, the highest I got was 80 (sitting at lights) then as I started moving getting the air through the radiator it went down to 70 and never moved from there while driving, do you think the thermostat is stuck open or been removed?

Thanks

As a test when you drive the car from stone cold watch the gauge closely and usually you will see the temp climb and then it will drop a little as the thermostat opens up then climb again. Mine opens up after about 3 to 4 miles.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Thanks Tomcat3, does your temp ever get to 90 deg?

When I sit in traffic or lights it'll go up to 80 and when I move off it goes to 70 but it stays there, doesn't move until I stop again then it'll raise and same again ill drive off and it'll go back to 70 and stay there....for miles...like 30 or so

Mine is a 1.4 petrol and in traffic it usually goes to around 90 but once moving drops back to about 80. It may be worth checking the thermostat to see if its ok and how old is the anti freeze, when ever I get a new car to me I always change all fluids so I have a base line to start with and know what I'm dealing with.
