From the same thread as Brajo found above:

"Last month, I had the same problem with 206 1.4hdi,and you've tried all that, bsi ecu key from other car,but it did not help.at the end of the fault was very stupid.engine ecu he lost contact in plug(white and green wire) can bus"

So, maybe a re-seat of the connectors on the ECU and check voltages, earths etc.

Thanks guys, will try all those suggested solutions over the weekend just trying to sort out the Sedre software so i can access the wiring diagrams which will help alot. Just a question about the fault that comes up on the Lexia (communication fault on the data wire with engine relay unit) please forgive me if i sound stupid but is that just as it say's problem with a wire that goes to engine relay or could it be a bunch of possible problems that can trigger this code ie: cam sensor/crank sensor, timing or other wiring problems?

Many thanks

Must confess that I have no idea where or what the 'engine relay unit' is, but would make a guess at the ECU above the passenger side front suspension spring. The 'data wires' will almost certainly be the VanBus twisted pair wires, so looking at the BSI & ECU connectors and checking you get power / earth at the ECU sound like best first steps.

Thank you, will start having look at the wiring now i have the Sedre software up and running. Will take on board all your sugestions, i've not had chance to do any more on car over the weekend had to have a break from it, will hopefully get to have a look later today. I have ordered a new crank sensor so will be another suspect piece off the list.
Will keep updated

Many thanks

Communication fault is related to communication between computers on CAN wires. No other sensor fault can cause this. CAN wires are always twisted and different color than the rest of the wires. They are easy to find/spot.

First check if engine ecu is getting 12v on correct pins. You can find correct pins . Just google your ecu number and "pinout".

You can rule out CAN wires easy. Find another pair CAN lines anywhere you like (e.g on BSI) and connect on those wires.

Best regards,

Many thanks
