heavy clutch
#11
On mine I found that its the sleeve on which the release bearing slide on is caked up in dust etc.

Probably not advisable to do, but a few weeks back, I took off the cable from the clutch fork and removed the rubber fork shroud. I then sprayed best part of half a can of GT85 spray lube into the bell housing, hoping to give the sleeve a good coating. After maybe 3 go's at pressing the clutch pedal and the re spraying its became lighter, but more importantly a hell of a lot smoother when releasing.

I had a new clutch and cable fitted in june and still found it heavy. It refused to go into gear last week so back to the garage who did the original job. They said the clutch fork was damaged and had in turn damaged the clutch plate. As over 50k had been put on it since the clutch was changed it was out of warranty, but they did agree to change the clutch fork and clutch at trade price. I must admit its like a new van, very light clutch and so much better to drive.

Hi,
Change the cable first, mine was like a new clutch when new cable fitted, shame i waited till it snapped before i realised, you have been warned!

I changed the cable and it didn't help, the pedal was stiff and getting reluctant to come up. When I sent to to have the clutch changed (50k-ish miles) they also sent me back a nice mangled release fork. It is a pressed steel thing and the cable had started wearing into it iirc.

Even renewed, a Berlingo clutch isn't exactly light.
