Hey folks.

I've been doing a little digging around for a few weeks now since I'm going to be starting a new job and I'll be putting a load more miles on the van than before (390 - 546 mile per week). I've been looking solely at plug in systems so can't comment on remaps.

I have two companies which I've shortlisted.

The first is Diesel Tuning UK Ltd (www.diesel-performance.co.uk)
The box is called DTUK PDI Pulse Modulation System. Web Price £359.10
Its a multimap, reprogrammable. Gains are 115 PS up from 90 PS, torque 253 Nm up from 215 Nm, extra 2-4 mpg.
Now I've had previous experience with these guys about 5 years ago when I had my Mk4 Astra SRi and can't fault them or their system.

The second is TDI Tuning (www.tdi-tuning.co.uk)
Here you have two systems to choose from:
The first is the CRTD Diesel Tuning Box. Price £154.99
Its a single map unit but is not suitable for DPF and not reprogrammable.
Gains are 113 PS, torque 248 Nm, extra 4-6 mpg.
The second is the CRTD2 Diesel Tuning Box. Price £289.99
Its a multimap, reprogrammable.
Gains are 120 PS, torque 268 Nm, extra 4-6 mpg.

Now although I have previous experience with DTUK I am more inclined to go with TDI Tuning because of the overall gains and price. The CRTD unit although a little inflexible is a cracking price for the gains you would see. But my heart is saying to go with the CRTD2 as the gains are better and the unit could potentially be transferred to another car/van in the future.

This may or may not help you but thought since I had spent the time looking I might as well share what I had found.

Darren

Darren,
I used tuning-diesels.com when I chipped my Fiesta 1.6 TDCI, it seemed a reliable well made unit & the website has plenty of info, delivery was fast as well, but as you are probably aware on the 1.6 & 1.4 PSA common rail engines as fitted to many Peugeot, Citroen & ford vehicles , the sensor at the end of the rail is a pig to get to, I have installed 3 on vairious ford vehicles & got the time down to 20 mins, it is tight but I took the fuel filter housing off, & used a long '0' ring pick to pick the clip on the connector and a pair of long handled long nose pliers to install the connector a lamp to see what youre doing, a torx driver set, 8mm spanner, 8mm deep socket on 1/4 drive. I found it worth the effort in fuel economy and low down torque gained, I was getting around 520 miles out of a tank on mixed motorway & A road driving.
hope these experiences help.

Thanks JCB. Always good to hear others experiences. It's looking like I won't be buying the unit just yet as I got an unexpected bill last week Sad Start the new job in a few weeks so I'll get a couple of weeks of driving without the box (good benchmark) and once I'm settled in and start doing a bit of overtime I'll get the box bought and installed. I'll post the improvements up to give everybody an idea.
