instrument cluster problem
#1
i have a 2000 berlingo 1.9d, The problem with the instrument cluster is that the speedo, mileage(you can see part of the mileage)
and rev counter dosent work atall
The temp gauge, fuel gauge and spedo still work, any ideas what i need to do to remedy or is it a case of new clocks? if so is it just a straight swap with a matching set?

Hi Danny, if the car is multiplexed it's not always good to do a straight swap. I believe sometimes the systems will add up both the old mileage and new!

If you're lucky and it's early 2000 (say, before April) then it is less likely to be multiplexed and you can simply swap for another diesel dash set.

In the driver's door opening, there's a small white sticker with three lines on it. What's the first line on the sticker (it will usually be five numbers followed by two letters)?

The 1st line would be 08642fv, what is these for or what will it tell you?

The RPO is 08642, this is a multiplexed van. Before 08600 were the easier ones to work on.

It also means your cluster can't be so easily swapped. My warnings about mileage apply to your van...

Just my luck then, so what way could i go about it? even if i just got my milage clock working/showing id be happy! my best bet would be to leave it with an auto spark i guess.

I think if you fit the complete kit from a matching spec car that works, it will be fine. This is the dash, the BSI, the COMM unit, ECU and key chips.

Hi, have you done the basics? Check all fuses inside & engine bay and try a Bsi reset procedure.
I'm presuming that you have a digital mileage with only half of the digits showing?
