Hi all,

Had fault code P11AB last week after having a loss of power so cleared the code and there has been no recurrence of it so far. So i put it in to the garage to make sure there is no hidden issues and now the delphi system in the garage has discovered a stored code for P242F. The garage has tried to clear it but it wont clear down they have checked the particulate in the DPF which is at 4.383 grams. Total weight of additive accumulated in PEF is 75 grams this was investigated on the citroen database and it seems the only problem area associated with this according to the citroen fault finding system is a worn DPF likely full of ash. Garage have recommended replacing the DPF filter as cleaning it would not likely work here plus the added fact the car has done 227K means its probably just a good idea to replace it.

Just wondering if anyone has had this same issue and if they believe that replacing it is the best course of action here. I have used this garage for 4 years and have followed the service manager from previous jobs so trust the advice i get here from them.

Yes this problem was solved back in 2019 with a new DPF. Ash load of DPF was beyond tolerance so renewal was recommended rather than cleaning. Most things i have heard with cleaning is that it is usual unsuccessful or only works for a short period.

It really does need to be investigated further but had this code at the 227k so replaced. Had it again at 330k and replaced again. First replacement due to cost was a citroen remanufactured unit but the second time it was a brand new unit as cost had came down. I am assuming the first replacement at 217k only got just over 100k because it was remanufactured and not brand new.

My K9 berlingo now has the same fault code and they have recommended a replacement for this too. However it is different from B9 according to citroen as they must be coded now so really needs to go on the Lexia. I have asked citroen to diagnose before replacement just to be sure but they cannot get me in until 9th March. At the moment the code is present but no service lights or EML's cars performace seems to be unchanged other than more fuel usage. It is however initiating a regen every 280-300 miles now but before it was double that between regens usually.

Ah brilliant mate. I've had my Berlingo from brand new, just done 113k. 5 years old. I got the Rac to diagnose it as don't really trust alot of garages. I looked at the cost of a brand new DPF from carparts4less around £480 that's with a discount. Just wondering if it's worth it or just to punt it. A looked at brand new berlingos, ooft double the price.

The coding cannot be done on a Berlingo after 2016, except by Citroen themselves..it matters not if it's a B9 or a K9, as after 2016 reg ECU (EDC17C60) it is not possible to have a new DPF coded (or any other engine part) by anyone except a Citroen dealer, or approved independent Citroen garage. Now since they would never code a pattern part, there's no point in buying one as they will refuse to fit or code a part that they did not supply.

I have an official repairer account with PSA and the factory Lexia interface, I still have to pay them to let me code my own vehicles even with the official software if later than 2015 registration.

You would need to find an independent PSA garage, prepared to fit a pattern part that you supplied (unlikely) and do the programming (very unlikely) before it would work on your vehicle.

Best plan is to get a price for replacement and coding from the nearest independent PSA garage.

Yes Zion this is the information provided to me by my own garage and citroen. However i had a new Adblue pump fitted to my K9 8 weeks ago and they managed to fit that no problem without citroen. So i am unsure if some certain thing can be done without Lexia. However on this occasion with the DPF they have said it is definitely a citroen job. Biggest issue for me as a taxi driver is the wait required to get in to citroen with it. Unfortunately i have been unable to find an independent citroen repairer close by so just have to wait and hope my service light does not come on.

It done another regen tonight so i can only assume with the state of the filter it is only managing partial regeneration and as a result sooner or later it will hit me with the service light.

Ah yes the adblue pump does not need coded, but the DPF itself does, also need to code the DPF additive if it runs low to tell the ECU it's been topped up.

The pump itself can just be swapped out. No coding required for that.

The Adblue system is not related to the DPF in any way. The DPF additive pump can also be swapped with no coding.

Ah right ok i see that explains it then. Although i was told by the citroen service manager that my model does not have a DPF additive tank. I was in about 4 months ago and asked them to check the level, they told me there was no need as it does not have one. On the B9 it needed filled every 90k or so and i've not had any warnings or fault codes regarding and now the K9 has 112 on it i assume it does not as they say or it is a larger tank?

Could be, the B9 from 2016 had a tank instead of a pouch and it held 2L roughly, no idea if they did away with the whole Eolys thing on the K9.
