When I just started up I got the above warning. I have a 2003 2.0 HDi

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

No oil pressure/ Low oil level. Have you recently changed the oil? Or parked on a steep hill (The sensor is either on the front or the back of the sump I believe, oil can drain away and give a false reading.) Is the big STOP light showing? It could be oil level, pump, or faulty sensor. Check the oil with the dipstick first.

Thanks for that. I checked the dipstick and it barely registered any oil (it was very dark though) I put in about 1/2 litre and the readout changed to ooooooF which I think means it's at max. I didn't want to put in very much as I had in the back of my mind that too much oil is worse than not enough

I only had it MOT'd and serviced about 5 months ago. I can have a better look tomorrow when it's light. Thanks

My 2003 2.0 HDi does this every time I start it up in the morning. We have quite a severe camber on our street, and it either does _ _ _ _ _ _ _ or ooooooo, depending which side of the road I park on!

I just ignore the warning and check it weekly on the dipstick, the old school way...

Hi - thanks for the information. I have had several different readouts, but this was the first flashing warning which made me take note. The car was pretty level. Unfortunately, in the dark I didn't read the dipstick properly. It looked as if it was below minimum so I added half a litre of oil as I had to use the car for a short run. This morning in the daylight I saw that the dipstick now reads about 5 or 6mm over max. I've ordered a a cheap extractor pump that will be delivered in the morning.

Mine goes through phases of giving dodgy readings, new sensor is on to do list. Never rely on sensors when it comes to oil level, always check your dipstick once a week.

Hi I have a similar problem with my Berlingo its a 2003 Hdi I have only owned it for about 6 weeks sometimes I get the __________f other times oooooof on a short journey recently I heard a beep a and the engine management light came on. I checked the oil level which was fine, the light went off after a couple of days. But i still get the alternative readings on the gauge, tonight the light came on again after several weeks without it. Once recently on the motorway I seemed to hit a flat spot and the car wouldn't pick up for a while then later on it seemed to run fine again. Can anybody please help.

The flat spot your talking about is called limp mode could be faulty sensor or the EGR not opening closing properly do you know any one with a fault code reader ??

No unfortunately.

The different readings for the oil level could be the sensor in the block could be faulty, they are easy to replace but don't rely on it and check the level manually once a week. Then you will get used to how much if any the motor uses.
As jed advised it really needs connecting to a diagnostic machine to see if there is any faults logged.
