Problems with brakes!
#1
Hi folks
I have been have problems with my brakes sticking. I will start at the beginning, when I bought the van it only had a couple of months of PSV left so I left it in to get checked over. With an unbelievable amount of work to be done, the van had both rear brake cylinders and flexable hoses replaced, when they went to blead the brakes they discovered that they couldnt and so the master cylinder was replaced. Problem solved.

Great brakes but I noticed after a while that on short journeys the van seemed to hold on a slight hill without touching the brakes or having the handbrake on. I also noticed that when I started of on a trip that the brake pedal would feel normal in that as I pressed the pedal I can feel the brakes start to bite and the harder I press the harder I would stop. But after running for a few miles if I touch the brake pedal (and I mean just touch) the brakes bite really hard. Their is no play in the brake pedal at all, I cannot lift it up from its normal resting position. The handbrake also feels the same all the time as well and bites at the same point.

On two occasions I had travelled about ten miles on a flat road and the van starts to slow, travelling at a speed of 40mph in third gear and slowing. When I pull in I checked the wheels, drivers front has smoke coming out of it and is roasting hot, passangers front hot, drivers rear hot and passangers rear hot. When I try to drive off the back of the van squats down as if the handbrake is pulled on. Leave the van for ten minutes everything is perfect and went as far as travelling 200 miles afterwards. Had the brakes checked again with everything greased front and rear. When it happened the second time I was told to remove the rubber boot at the brake pedal and spray WD40 around it. No difference.

Has anyone seen this problem before or know a fix for it??
