Been a while ( too long tbh ) posting on here.
Some major life changes in the last few months, kinda throw me a wobbly!
Anyways, some may remember I needed to replace the rear axle on my 04 1.9D, well that's been done.
Fast forward a couple of months and I am turning in the carpark, left wheel hits a small pothole and PAS decides to pop!
Gets a ( ridiculous IMHO ) price of £360 to supply and fit.
Contacted an old school mechanic, who quoted £150 supply and fit AND to replace the belt tensioner as well!
So, it definitely pays to shop around folks.
Now, today after using the van for about an hour in total, I go to start it, zilch, nada, kaput! Ignition lights are ok, anyways long story short, it is the alternator, it started smoking after I got a jump start. Van re-booked ( same mechanic ) for tomorrow.
Just wondering if it could have been the PAS oil, dripping into/onto the alternator, more out of curiosity. Anyone heard of this?
