Permanent 12v cigarette lighter socket
#1
Hi all, my van has 2 cigarette lighter type sockets. I want to make one of them permanent so I can charge phones etc when fishing without leaving the key in the van. Does anyone know the easiest way to do this? Or is it worth installing one in the back of the van somewhere near the light?
Any help much appreciated.

The early models had a shunt fuse that depending on its position, would make the lighter permanently live and radio without ignition. ( under steering wheel fuse box. )

And the 2006 model had if IIRC, a wiring loom that was for a lighter socket/12v socket near the rear o/side backdoor

If you have an M59 berlingo undo the two clips and drop the BSI down a bit and the shunt fuse is in the front row in the middle if I remember. I think its marked on the BSI or in the handbook. It stands out as the fuse holder slot is longer to take into account of the two positions of the fuse.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Do you mean the one with SH on the top? It’s really weird it will fit in the current position but when I try the other position the fuse is too big.

Ok I’ve managed to get the shunt fuse into the other position but the cig lighter still doesn’t work when the key is out of the ignition. Any ideas?

If you got sorted mabe you can help me. How can I use the auxiliary 12 volt socket in my 2014 Citroen Berlingo Multispace with the ignition switched off? are both back and front sockets on the same line. If I disconnect from the fusebox where would the best place be to pick up a live feed, and put in an appropriate inline fuse.
Many Thanks Chez
