If you remove the DPF, you will be guaranteed to fail the MOT smoke test. Removing it can land you with a £1000 fine from the DOT and no MOT. Not being a jobsworth, it's the truth. DPF equipped diesels emit zero smoke..no DPF, you'll put out smoke. Dead giveaway.
A remap is fine, but no need to remove the DPF buddy. I'd get it mapped with a DPF friendly map.

You're doing well then buddy. I reset my long term trips when I bought mine, and over a year / 4000 miles, my average is 39.9.

We had a few long stretches of 50mph up the M5 which were quite level, so I used the cruise control and reset the mpg counter getting that 68 - 73mpg.
Average overall around Devons rural roads was about 53, but I've just fitted roof bars for kayak and towbar for bikes, so I'm sure that will have dropped a bit.
Next motorway run, I will check again to see what the difference is.

Ya I get less than 40mpg on average. I was also very disappointed with it when I realised this. I drive at ~125kph on the motorway and it absolutely swamps diesel. I was trying to drive more slowly to save fuel but I binned that idea. You can buy more diesel but you can't buy more time!!

So true!
And I've seen 54mpg at a steady 50 but not 70, at that speed it eats fuel.
