Audio wont recognise playlist file on USB

I have made/used many a playlist before, but cannot get a playlist on the USB plugged into my car audio to work. The car just does not recognise/find it. I have checked that the playlist is a WPL file, but when I try and find the playlist on screen, the audio just does not find it. In other respects, the USB works fine, allowing me to select and play any track/album/composer, but playlists are so much better (safer) when on long journeys, and not wanting to fiddle around finding new sources of music. Can anyone help me?

Hmm... dunno.  I use an iPhone on bluetooth and playlists work fine that way

Check the audio section in the attached manual, it details the requirements. I think it needs an m3u file or something. Maybe the tool you're using to create the playlist is making the wrong format for the car. It's pretty restrictive on what it can use.

Roy, what are you actually producing the playlist on the USB with? Are you just dragging and dropping audio files onto the USB or are you using a program to collect all the required tracks together and then send them to the USB? If the latter what is the file extension of the playlist on the USB?

I used windows media player, and simply drag and dropped the music onto the USB. I then used media player to create the playlist, and then dragged the selected music over, to the playlist window to the right. It works fine on any computer, but not in the car.  The playlist has the file name playlist.wpl. I'm not sure if I have given the info you asked for, but thanks anyway. Any ideas?

Found this info regarding .wpl files: "A WPL file is not a real media format, and DOES NOT contain any audio or video data at all. It only stores a list of references to the actual songs or videos, but not the files themselves."

Could not find the reference to m3u files in the manual you sent me, but I did find that I could save my playlists with an m3u format using media player, which by default, had been giving the playlists a WPL format. --- The m3u format worked!!!!!  Enormous thanks!!!

The file extension was the media player default of WPL, but having resaved all my playlists as M3U files, the car now recognises them and it works fine, so thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
