I used AC90
Not quite the same issue as you, revs at idle are good it is just the revs hang when taking foot off throttle to change gear and shows to a greater extent when driving harder.
Gotta laugh years ago I drove a London Taxi as a family car and the throttle spring was shot so I used an elastic rope / bungee until I bought a new one trouble was it worked so well it remained for a good eight months or so until the mot came along.

I'm sorry, it was your statement that you were a novice. Just get the Lithium grease worked into the pivot point and it will be fine.

All in the drivers footwell, it is a whole assembly and you'll need to remove the pedal.
Best thing is to get on your knees in daylight twist around somewhat and take a peep upwards.

Even without opening it, check if it sticks when pivoted. If so then try and get grease into the pivot point until it stops sticking...
See here, the pivot part is lined in red: (click for full size)

Here, see this thread: (shows the springs, pivot and how to open the pedal back cover) - I would just lubricate it without opening up first.

Thanks guys for all your help...the pedal was completely knackered. Even with grease etc. Had to purchase a new pedal 50 miles away!! They are like hens teeth to get hold off.
