[Engine] Engine cover stud/fixings
#1
The engine cover on my 2.0 hdi was held on with cable ties when I got it. I thought about buying new fixings but they`re expensive for what they are and by all reports, they don`t last very long. So I made my own:

Using the extra nut halfway along the screw adds friction inside the rubber pipe, enough to enable it to be tightened but not overtightened and also helps align the screw. Having two button head screws end to end like this gives the stud flexibility and the overall result is a much stronger, more durable and better looking effort than factory.

Each one took me about 5 minutes to make once I worked out the length of screw and pipe to use. The last picture is how it looked with 2 x 45mm screws, it sits a little lower now with 2 x 30mm.

Nice bit of ingenuity that. Well done. I'm sure that will help some folks out.
