Running cable from engine compartment
#1
I have a 1.9d Multispace 2001 which has been converted to a mini camper van and am planning to fit a split charge relay to the leisure battery which is located behind the passenger seat. My question is- where can I run the cable through from the engine compartment? I can see some bunched wires disappearing into the passenger side from the engine compartment but cannot see where they come out inside the car. So far I have removed the glove box and some of the sound proofing, but really do not want to remove the entire fascia. Does anybody have any ideas?

When I needed to run a cable from the battery on my m59 which is basically the same I went from the battery through panel scuttle on the passenger side and then through the bulkhead fairly high up in the footwell. From what I remember under the soundproofing there was a shape of a cut out that the steering column on a left hand drive went through. I drilled through or near to that put a grommet in the hole and ran cable through.
Are we there yet????? Huh
Ex 1.6hdi van now 3 seater 1.4 multispace

I have also pulled a cable like that. From the battery I went through the rubber around the cable bundle, then down to the floor, removed the metal plate on the doorsill, and threaded the cable under that, then behind the side panel beside the rear passenger seat(Remember, I have the steering wheel on the left side, and there's no rear passenger door on the driver's side) and from there back to the back of the panel on the lefthand side of the trunk.

On my 52 reg - ripSad there was a grommet in the bulkhead on the drivers side, to get at it I had to remove the trim around the windscreen and then its in the void that it covered  it comes out above the BSI and fuses , not sure if that helps?

I have had a look and the solution described by Tomcat3 appears to be the obvious one on my vehicle. Thanks!
