the sticky back never worked for me it just went gooey in the heat and fell off but then I did once leave a cassette (!?) on the front seat and it melted! Got seriously hot there in August.

What year was that?

where is more relevant than the year, it was Andalucia in Spain, would get to 45 in the shade.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I reckon it is a case of different strokes for different folks. Happily, my girlfriend agreed at the start of the build to take responsibility for the curtains. She is up for drilling lots of holes into the car but not sure that is the best idea (she likes to shoot first and ask questions later). If we come up with something half decent I might post it up.

If you are really looking to impress, you could get some of this! Switchable privacy glass

Quick update, cause I've got mine sorted now. I used shockcord, and mount them only at night so they dont take up space during the day when I dont need them. I have two caribiners attached to the two points where the front overhead shelf is screwed to the roof. They're on little bits of shockcord and tuck awy on the shelf when not being used. Then I have four curtains threaded onto one long length of shockcord. This attaches to the caribiners at the front two corners and hooks at each end just hook over the tailgate aperture. The boot still shuts.

Not a bad method cause it's very cheap and means no vehicle alterations at all.
