Andy............. check connectors under drivers seat. Spray with wd40 and reconnect. The airbag light may be this?
Check brake fluid is up to max mark this can trigger EML warning.... intermittently.

Ferrous wheel an ECU is:
An engine control unit (ECU), also known as power-train control module (PCM), or engine control module (ECM) is a type of electronic control unit that determines the amount of fuel, ignition timing and other parameters an internal combustion engine needs to keep running. It does this by reading values from multidimensional performance maps (so called LUTs), using input values (e.g. engine speed) calculated from signals coming from sensor devices monitoring the engine. Before ECU's, air/fuel mixture, ignition timing, and idle speed were directly controlled by mechanical and pneumatic sensors and actuators.

Think you want a pre 2003 model of berlingo with xud engine.??? Smile

ferrous wheel,

from the info I've seen in various places, including the Haynes manual, it would appear that all Berlingos have some measure of computerisation (as you put it). All will have an ECU and various other bits of whizzbang technical trickery. This is done to enable the engines to meet the various emmission level targets set by the interfering :censored: in Europe. This applies to all reasonably modern vehicles - older designs like your C15 would not pass the current regulations for new vehicles.

As for engines:
The 1.9D was available until around 2005
The 2.0Hdi was available from 2002 (ish) to 2005 (ish)
The 1.6Hdi came in around 2005

So you can see there is 3 year period where both the 1.9 & 2.0 engines were available in the Berlingo.

The upshot is.......... if you want a Berlingo you're gonna get computerised

Hi Adam 3rd canvey and Knoberly woberly.
Thank you for your responses.
Am I getting closer to finding out if the berlingo does a version of my c15 vans diesel engine? And if so up until what year before all the computerisation kikes in. Is it just wishfull thinkling that I can get a berlingo with my amazing bullet proof c15 engine?
At least I have some thing to go on ie. The name of the game is a indirect injection XUD engine. Show me the way to the Berlingo's with those babies in. Come to dady. I want your xud Berlingos. What year do they go up to?. And do they go as far as the mark two's as they look Priter. I feel like I am getting close now.

I have run veg oil in my XUD Xantia for some years now - so I understand what you're looking out for. You cannot run veg in an HDI engine without a lot of mods. so that discounts the 2.0 and 1.6 HDI units. As I understand it, the 1.9 unit in the Berlingo is basically the same as your C15 and should take veg easily. I think the unturbo'd and unintercooled XUD is a bit slow in the Berlingo, particularly the facelift Multispace. I test drove a few before settling on the HDi and it took a lot of work to get it moving along. If you are set on a 1.9 test drive a few - I found that as the unit is already working hard to move the Berlingo body, there was quite a performance difference between a good engine and a poorer one.

Happy Berlingo hunting. But keep the wonderful PSA diesels a secret. We don't want everyone after them and pushing the prices up!

Berlingo Multispace 2.0 Hdi (04) - 238K@43mpg - 205/60HR15 XL tyres all round
Berlingo Multispace 1.6 16v (51) - 184K@36mpg - SORN & still 15° retarded...
Xantia 1.9TD Temp2 Estate (97) - 208K@42mpg - SORN & no turbo boost...
