Grizz' Prozac for the Soul - Berlingo Multispace
Searched Google for a MOT testing station close as possible to home last night.

And found what seemed like a good idea.

A station that only charges if your vehicle passes.

Also, they do only the test, and no repairs or parts…….

So no incentive to fail and possibly take advantage of anyone unsuspecting or lacking in knowledge.

So I drove there after getting the truck ready around 12.00 today.

They doo bookings and some walk in appointments.

So I got lucky, their only walk in for. The day was a cancelled booking for 13.00

So I took it and went to the shops, before returning at 12.50

I felt like a dad watching his kid ride a bicycle for the first time.

45 minutes later they reversed the truck out and after paying £45.00 for the service I was handed a certificate, valid to 23 December next year.

No advisories either as I had addressed them all before.

The whole team there liked the truck, and it seems it was the first S10 they had tested.

And back as we were.

Number plates swapped around too.

Pretty chuffed it passed and that I have another job ticked off for now to end of year.

Only doing the MOTs and not any other necessary work is an interesting business model.  I can see the appeal.  Years ago I took my old Fiat to a Saab dealer for an MOT, and they failed it for not having a nearside wing mirror, though they could order and fit one for me.  I thought this was odd because it didn't have the mirror the previous year but another MOT station passed it.  So I phoned the Department of Transport and asked for clarification.  They told me that a vehicle only required the mirror at the top of the windscreen, plus one other.  So my Fiat was fine.  When I informed the Saab garage that I had this information from the Dept of Transport, they became effusively apologetic and effectively rolled out the red carpet of customer service.  I thought, 'what an interesting effect that mentioning the regulatory government body has had'.  Lol.

I really do hate wiseass kids.

And yes, same place next year.

Two day business meeting at Heathrow Terminal 5

Amazing how we get ripped a new ring every time we turn by the government and their cronies.

Signage is a bit ambigous and misleading, a bunch of colleagues managed to drive through the drop off zone at T5 and the fee, £5.00 for dropping a passenger, or just accidentally driving through.
Stealth taxes are all around us, and many are blatantly obvious.

Anyway………

Park your car sir??

I have had a chesty cough the last week, not the nasty governments mate virus, just a cough and a snotty nose that made me feel somewhat sorry for myself.

So by 4.00pm my boss sent me to my room to continue attending the meeting remotely on Teams.

Much better, though the cough continued.

Managed to stay awake all night, thanks to the cough etc.

Back home yesterday, I fell asleep in the chair, eventually waking at 7.20 and heading straight to bed.

Today was again desk time, but by 3.00pm my back had had enough and I had to go for a quick 3km walk,

Winter is here.

Over there is the Thames and Essex beyond it.

Sunset is early, and the chill slides in fast.

Weekend weather promises to warm up by Sunday to 12”

Fingers crossed.

Amazing what you can get done in an hour.

Cleaning the carport and paving at the garage.

Moving the Rezin Rockit body up the drive and starting the donor MX5 which happily started up and moved around under its own steam.

Then washed the fiberglass body with chlorine bleach gel and a soft broom.

Its amazing how dirty it got over the last year or so, grinder dust, sawdust etc.

Once rinsed.

It looked better.

And finally all the bits moved into place for the next phase.

@nickwheeler and a few others like @westbay, @kevins @jimi @pauly and the whole team of contributors should smile at the next few days planned actions.

First thing is to find a bit of time to unpack the big shed, where the engine hoist and engine stand are stashed, along with a few other reserve tools.

Once unpacked they can go into the carport area.

Keep in mind engine gets a full service, cambelt etc.

My holidays will be well used I suspect.

Progress is Progress.

I'm still laughing at walk in MOTs, surely you have to take a vehicle  Big Grin I reckon I might still fail on emissions Huh

Clean up and reassemble should help.

Thanks.

I may have been having my period or something like that when you posted your last comment and perceived it as a way to say that I was talking too much random bollocks.

So my apologies for jumping to conclusions while having a crap day or week.

Loads happened in the mean time.

Engine transplant

Complete strip down of MX5 etc.

Some fabrication.

Catch up in the last 10 or so pages of this thread.

Friday…..

WEEEEEEKKKEND ! !

So today I took my lunch break and grabbed a coffee and headed down to the garage.

I had started on the mock up of the roll bar the other day, so continued with that.

Also a few other little jobs.

Do note, the drivers seat has been mounted lower because in the fully back position it needs to slide back and downward on the rails.

So if you move it forward for shortarsess if will raise it vertically.

Make sense?

And finally, drawn for copying, the cross bar for the harness mounts are at shoulder height.

I think I am liking this so far.

Remember 28 August 2020 ?

First pic or is that PIG entry on this thread.

[Image: 5AA1CA24_7D7B_49FB_A904_1D8B830628A0_c38...e5112a.jpg]

When I came in today there were a few letters and a recycled padded envelope (my kinda thinking) addressed to me……..

First thought was that I had not ordered anything off Ebay, nobody had said they were sending a small envelope.

So I opened it………..

@peteh1969 had gone and created a 3D printing programme for the Rocket Pig and printed me some logos for the Rezin Rockit to use once it is ready to be on the road.

I will need to try paint them in chrome, and then hopefully get some clear resin to fill them in as badges for the sides.

I was chuffed as a chuffed thing can be.

These little details make a big difference.

I have another plan.

Small triangular side plates to add to the outsides of the seats, just to prevent sliding out, more as a visual detail.

In the style that @dez put on his Transit, recovery.

With dimple die holes in three sizes. Or just step drilled in different sizes and finished off.

Or something like that.

Picture lifted from Dez’ thread.

Using the seatbelt bolt and securing pin to keep it in place.

Adding more and more little details, hmmmmmmm….?

maybe tomorrow will see some real work again.
