STP engine flush additive - any good?
#1
Bought some Total oil to do a change on my 1.6 HDi - and this stuff was on offer - so I bought some!!
Seems you just add it to a warm engine, before draining, let it run (stationary) for about 15mins, then drain & change oil and filter as normal.

Anyone used it - or seen any reports on it, please?

Hi I had a london taxi fx4 years ago but it came from the factory with a landrover 2.5 petrol engine webber carb and electronic ignition, used this at every oil change 6.000 miles never had a problem.

I'm not sure stirring up the sludge is a good idea with the potential turbo problems.

I guess it would be ok if combined with dropping the sump to clean all the old oil out and clean the oil pick up gauze.

Waste of money if you ask me. You can achieve the same using oil thinners. Don't do it, I doubt you have sludge problems. Inspect your old oil if you think there is something wrong and open your rocker cover to see for problems.
