Smoking? No way! Gave them up years ago.

Non-smear glass cleaner from Sainsburys or Tescos. Also good for mirrors and inside windows around the house. Much better then Meths.

If solvents don't get your windscreen glass clear again, you could always try "Glass cutting compound", which is used to 'deep clean' windscreen glass, usually before a rain repellant like "Rainex" is applied (though I would not recommend applying Rainex as I've tried it, and didn't like it). I bought my glass cutting compound from Halfords, and it's a creamy white liquid in a small plastic bottle, which you rub into the glass, allow to dry to a dusty layer, then polish off with a microfibre cloth.

IPA is Isoproyl Alcohol ...... excellent stuff !  Ideally you want 10% or above.

In fact that's a rubbish listing - it says it's 3x bottles at the bottom, but I doubt it.

It's probably available in lots of shops too.

Yes, the creamy glass cleaners all work on the same principle, that a glass cleaner needs to include a very fine abrasive compound within it, to scour out the muck from the almost invisible microscopic "troughs and valleys" within the surface of the glass.

India Pale ale, brewed for drinking and keeping, in hot weather.  A taste of Dear Ole Blighty to the Colonials on the sub continent.  It`s generally weak through necessity.  I like it greatly.  Flowers do a good one.
