Playing music off your phone to the standard radio SOLVED
#1
OK, so up until very recently, our Citroen Berlingos are only equipped with a pretty basic radio that does not have any Aux inputs or Blue-Tooth Sad I also understand, from what I have read, that it is no simple matter to upgrade the radio as doing so upsets the "BSI" thingy  Sad (Not sure if it throws up an error code or what ??????)

Anyway, here is a tip for you if you wish to use your phone as a music source.

I use a Plantronics K100 blue-tooth thingy so I can take phone calls legally whilst on the move. It clips onto the sun visor.

You can see (and buy) them here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Plantronics-K10...onics+k100

The cute thing about this device is it has a reasonable quality FM transmitter built in. You simply tune your standard car radio into the frequency you have chosen on your Plantronics K100 (I use 88.7 mHz as that is unused in my area) and then you can stream music from your phone to the car radio.

By the way, the (rechargeable) battery life on that K100 is AMAZING. I only have to charge it up about once every two MONTHS and I use it almost daily.

If you need any more info, just call out Wink

I use the parrot system on the van, don't need radio on,just press play on the phone and it comes through the speakers anyway,i find the fm transmitter thingy's dont really work for me due to the mileage and counties covered in a day,I end up forever having to change channels to find one free, great though if it's a commute for a normal, sensible person haha

Mine is a 2005 car, so I don't think it will have any bluetooth option to enable.

I could do that perhaps, but I think I've read that the BSI needs to be "told" that the head unit has been changed and I (currently) don't have that facility. I could be wrong there of course, this is all new to me after all my life owning older "classic vehicles".

I know what you mean, I too prefer decent sound quality, but this unit I have been using is not all bad in that respect. It's also reasonably powerful, so it's pretty good at blanking out "proper" radio stations, unless they are quite strong signals.

Can anyone comment on what actually would be required to upgrade the old (2005) head unit ?
I am fine with wiring and knowing what goes where etc, it used to be my job (electronics) but all this new stuff, controls on the stalks and the BSI thingy are alien to me !!
