1.9 diesel wont rev
#11
I had this problem on a 2.0 Hdi. Engine light never went off even after the garage had fixed it (so they thought). Took it to local dealers and they found the fault after one and half hours on a machine and a further two hours by a mechanic. The Problem was a blocked Vaccum pipe. They sorted it and its been fine since.

mine pulls really strongly, especially from 3500 rpm up where it seems to pick up more horses from there and will rev to the limiter with no problem, up hill it pulls to 60 quite well and 3rd is a strong gear going from 30 to 50 quite nippy then 50 to 70 not bad either in 4th. It sits at 3k / 70mph no problem and will accelerate to 90 on the flat with no complaint.

(Its a dw8b according to logbook but looks like it has a turbo on the rear where the exhaust leaves the engine? and a stainless pipe goes from that rounded housing before the downpipe to what I assume is the egr at the front somewhere (never removed the cover on the engine yet) - its a jan 04 reg diesel, could it have a turbo? Looks like a turbo housing but hard to see properly down there. Sure pulls well and yet very quiet for a diesel)

If it has a turbo it isn't a DW8B maybe a DW10** But your log book isn't likely to be wrong...Confusedcratch:

hi all, took this long to get back to you with a result as i was busy at work, turns out it was a valve in the exhaust that was sticking, not the egr but another one and the cat neededc to be blown out,had to send it to a garage as i just couldne get near it,anyway, runs much better nowWink
