P filter add level low
#1
New to the forum but a proud berlingo owner. This alarm came up a few months ago and over the last few weeks the cat has randomly started cutting out. Sometimes does it 2 or 3 tinea a day. Then is fine for a few days then does it again etc. It is a 2010 model 80000 miles.  Just wondering if the alarm has anything to do with cutting out etc

If you have a DPF then you need either eloys or adblue (not sure which on the later ones) If you have allowed either to run out you will cause issues with your NOX sensor and DPF. I suspect you are now getting intermittent limp mode, and hope you haven't buggered your DPF.

Why else do you think they put warning alarms on the car in the first place?

The 2010 model will not have ad blue, you particulate filter additive (Elloys ) fluid will have run out.
This fluid level often coincides with the filter being blocked.
Now it is far from 100% that the blocked DPF is causing the car to cut out.
You had better hope it isn't because of this , because if the DPF filter is this blocked, then you are well on the way to destroying the turbo and the engine.
It is simply madness to ignore warning lights on any modern vehicle, especially a diesel.
My advice to you is DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR AT ALL.
Get it to a garage straight away, that understands these cars, and prepare to part with a fair bit of money, or get someone to remove the DPF completely.

If you do ignore alarms, you end up with things like this.............

Ignored brake pad warning until brake failure.

Ignored overheat alarm.

When you weigh it up adblue isn't that cheap. The eloys bag is filled every 80,000 miles or so and adblue every 12,500 miles. Over time there isn't a lot of difference in the cost.
