I stripped down the timing belt cover along with the belt and discovered I piece of the fuel pump pulley has broke away, the belt has slipped as a consequence and is 30 degrees out of position . I am at a crossroad s now do I take off the head to see how many valves are bent, the noise it made at the time whilst I was out in it the other week pointed to head troubles but along with the code signalling a fuel pump fault it will work out costly to put right, I have never known a component to fail in this way the van has covered 102,000 miles which is genuine and low. I am gutted because it has been looked after maintenance wise, I can’t really justify spending what it will take to put it right and a replacement engine is not something I want to consider.
