wrong fuel - expensive mistake today

If the tank filler tube had a simple offset slots and the correct pump nozzle had matching pegs then it wouldn't happen?
Square pegs and round holes springs to mind.
Making one nozzle bigger than the other only fixes the problem in one direction!
