For sale - Berlingo camper conversion - lift out

Hi All,

I'm selling my Berlingo camper conversion. My wife and I just got back from 75 days travelling on the continent (as far as Split in Croatia) using this conversion in our Mk1 Berlingo. We are still married so in my mind the conversion is a success! We are now emigrating to Australia so the beloved conversion has to go. I think it would also be fine in a Mk2 Berlingo, but I haven't tried it.

The conversion is a copy of an Amdro boot jump conversion. I have a lot of respect for Amdro. I'm afraid I really liked the idea of their product but I couldn't afford it, so I built something similar. I doubt mine is quite up to Amdro quality of finish and is probably heavier (although I have never seen their product in the flesh). However, after 75 days it is not showing any signs of wear, other than a small problem with the table which I have described below.

As with the Amdro product, this conversion lifts into the boot of the berlingo. It can then be unfolded into a bed or a table and chairs, over the top of the folded down berlingo back seats.

However, this configuration is only good for weekends away, not for long trips. As an extra feature to the amdro product I made some storage boxes which attach to the floor using the rear seat mounting holes. The storage boxes replace the back seats. I made the boxes in the same proportions as the seats, so that you can keep the larger section of the back seat in and carry the small box (have space for 2 people in the back), or keep the smaller section of the seat and take the larger box (have space for one person in the back). As in the attached pictures you can fit both boxes and have no space for back seat passengers.

I ran out of time to make window blinds, so I actually bought these from Amdro for £175 delivered. They are included in the sale.

So that we could shower, we used a Gelert solar shower inside a packashack. The packashack is also up for sale and is like new. You can see one of these at http://www.packashack.co.uk or https://www.facebook.com/packa.shack. The packashack was £155 not including delivery.

The stove is an alcohol stove which I bought from Compass (an online yachting store) for £107 delivered.

Please note, there is no water tank in our version.

With the hindsight of 75 days sleeping in this, there are a couple of weakneses. We used a 2" memory foam mattress topper for the mattress. It is a bit too soft for more than a couple of nights in a row. I would replace this with a different material before I set off on a long trip. The table, painted green, has tapered sides which fit into the bed. If you put weight on the table top (when it is being used as a bed) in the wrong way then it can come out. This might require a bit of work in the future, but it is nothing that couldn't be sorted out.

I'm not a joiner, so this isn't a work of art. However, I hired a biscuit cutter to do all of the joints, and they are showing no signs of weakness. The piano hinges are shown covered in tape in the photos just to ensure that they didn't catch on the underside of the cushions.

The entire thing has cost me just under £900, not including the time it took to build (which was about 10 times longer than I estimated!).

I'd be happy to take £800 for it. Let me know if you are interested. I'm currently located near Aberdeen, but will be travelling to London via Dumfries and Galloway in my trusty Berlingo over the next two weeks. The conversion is also for sale elsewhere.

A small point - I don't know what regulations these types of conversions are supposed to meet. The boxes are easily removed, but I have no idea whether they meet safety standards etc.
