Spoke to him today, said van was sold as seen and that he only had it as customer sent in for engine rebuild then couldn't pay so handed over the van. He said he can fit a non return valve to the fuel system to try eliminate the air in the fuel but at my cost. Angry

I think I could fit a non return valve myself if anyone could point me in the right direction.

That's a pity mate. I think the not answering of your calls pretty much confirms he knew it had an issue.
Might be best if you start a new thread if you are going down the route of solving air in fuel issue. No idea about fitting valve but maybe others can advise.

Hi
Have you a clear plastic section in your fuel pipe ?,

On mine dw8 1.9  fuel from the tank runs in a black pipe until it reaches the engine then before it goes into the fuel filter there is a section of clear piping . If any air leaks from the tank to the filter will show there as bubbles.  Where it comes from the filter to the fuel pump there is another clear section , and any leaks from the filter to the fuel pump will be seen there as bubbles.

The  hand/primer pump acts as a 1 way valve, so if it is faulty( drawing air) you will need new fuel  filter assembly as the fuel pump sucks the fuel from the tank .

Pump the pump and start it up and see if bubbles are coming from the filter to the fuel pump . or from the tank

I suppose that just before  connector where the fuel  pipe turns from black to clear would be where to fit a 1 way valve but it is pointless for the above reasons.

Haven't got around to sorting this yet but got the cv joint replaced as was the noise when turning. what I noticed today though was as soon as the fuel light came on the van started hesitating as if it was running out and cut out at one stage but I pumped the throttle pedal and it fired back up.
