Remote locking
#1
Hi.
The other day the remote locking stopped working all of a sudden?
Central locking operates via drivers door lock with key manually.
Remote buttons do nothing at all.
It's been cold the last week or so and whilst attempting to fill up with diesel and almost breaking the cap I did manage to uncover the keys covers and thought I could have possibly broke the microboard inside the key.
So have replaced that with a brand new 1 and swapped over transponder from previous key.
Still same problem, can start the van with key but cannot lock it with the buttons.
Has anyone had any similar issues?

Thank you

Not a simple battery issue? I’m sure you’ve tried it but you hadn’t mentioned it.

Put the key in the ignition barrel, turn the ignition to fully on but don't start the engine, press and hold the lock button while the keys is in this position for a full 10 seconds. You might hear a beep from the dash. Then turn off the ignition, remove the key, close the door and press the lock button and check it locks.

It sounds like the rolling code has gotten out of sync between the key and the BSI. If it still starts the engine then the immobiliser transponder is good and being read. But, they share a rolling key code between the car and the key each time you lock - the key repeats it to the car to unlock. Next time, the code is changed.

If you have for example 2 keys and you change the battery in one of them and it's dead for a while as the other key is being used, the codes get out of sync. The BSI recognises previous codes it sent so a second key that's still got a good battery and pulled from a drawer will work ok, unless it loses the last one it had. Then it fails to match so the doors won't open. But the transponder chip has a fixed code for the engine authorisation so it always works if it was previously coded to the BSI at all.

Luke is also spot on, a bad battery will prevent the key from remotely unlocking but not from starting.

They rely on the blade fitting the door so if you get in that way you can still start it.

Just noticed you swapped the RF board, you will have to do the ignition process as described, since the board is new it doesn't have the rolling unlock code in it yet. The transponder is only for starting the engine. The central locking wouldn't respond to some random new RF board asking it to unlock....or people could buy a new key and go around unlocking cars and stealing the contents or the car......!

Thanks, have tried the ignition sequence before posting on here but I'm sure I was probably doing it wrong!
Will try that once home from work and let you know how I get on.
Thanks for the advice!

Very true!just thought the transponder may somehow interact with the new board someway or another.
Will try out the correct ignition sequence you mentioned and see if it solves it.
Thanks again!

Ok, so using the key you want to match, unlock with the blade and don't try the buttons. Then do the key code reset, ignition on, hold the lock button for a full ten seconds and the BSI will beep to acknowledge. After that, immediately turn off, close door and press lock. Follow this exactly and it will work.

Hi.have tried the above and nothing still happens.
The bsi doesn't beep.
Have followed the instructions exactly.

I've never tried to operate the central locking with a new RF board - normally the keys are coded using DiagBox but it starts, so that's the odd bit. Do you have another key? If so does that operate the C locking?

Might be worth a BSI reset. Google the procedure on YouTube. Might fix it, as the BSI controls central locking
