Remote locking
#11
I do have another key,but it doesn't control remote locking.just a blade with built-in transponder to open doors and start engine.
Seems strange to me too, that's why I asked for opinions as it baffled me.
Will have a look at bsi reset.cant hurt to try!
Will be another thing checked off the list.

Yep. The transponder has no effect on the doors locking, it's only required for the loop in the ignition for starting. I guess because that RF board has never been linked to the car, it won't work until that key has been activated, maybe in DiagBox.

Is this a replacement used RF board from another car by any chance? I'm pretty sure you cant link a used one to another vehicle.

It's supposed to be a brand new board made for these cars with the same board.
Came with new fob and blade so just swapped blade and transponder out from old key

As far as I'm aware you can't just resync a new or second hand remote to work with the car as the original has some sort of identity code applied to it when it is paired with the car.

(Some of the terminology used above may not be correct but you get the idea)

I would be having a look at the original board to see if there is anything obviously wrong with it, like a dislodged micro switch or cracked solder joints.

Yeah could be faulty JJ. If there had never been a working remote, I'd question the central locking working at all. Could be it still needs coded to the car with DiagBox..

The original remote worked perfectly to unlock and lock the van remotely then suddenly just gave up.
Will be doing the bsi reset tomorrow and if that doesn't work will check the original board see if there is any breaks in the joins.
Will let you know how I get on!

Got round to doing the bsi reset yesterday.no joy there either.
Other than taking it to citroen I don't know where to go next really.
Really bothering me not having remote locking as I work from my van and it's grating on me everything I need to get something out and have to go round open drivers door then go passenger side loading door!
I've seen others have installed ebay remote locking system to the existing central locking to solve there problems.
Can anyone recommend a good one?

Thank you

Ok so the original suddenly giving up could be a faulty part in the BSI like a CL relay, or the antenna in the comm2k unit in the steering column.

If you have no way of tracing the fault it may have to be aftermarket but have never tried to fit a system on top of an existing system. You will find kits on eBay and might be able to wire them to the door solenoids.

If the doors all lock from the driver's door using the key blade, the BSI should be fine. Next would be to code the new remote to the BSI using DiagBox - that's the way it would have to be done. If you think about it, there's no connection between the start transponder and the RF remote, and the van has to be told that this is a valid remote....or any old remote would open your doors. It's not logical to expect a plain new board that's never been coded to the van, to operate the locking.

No I completely understand the new board not working with the car.
Where's best to buy the diag software needed?
Don't mind investing in it as by sounds of it comes in very handy and I have no plans on getting rid of my berlingo anytime soon.

Look online in general, OBD shops in China or seller's on eBay....I got mine on eBay but others have used online diagnostic dealers (China based) and had good results. I'd say go for "full chip Lexia 3 DiagBox" and get the one you can afford. They got from £50 to £daft so stick to what you can stomach, most of em work just fine as long as you get the full.chip version and spend an evening installing it

Then tread carefully, don't do anything unfamiliar without checking and writing down the current settings as it's powerful, you can brick the ECU or BSI with it if you go steaming in. Post up, read the tips posted on here and tutorials in YouTube.

There is no undo function in DiagBox...and it can wipe an ECU or BSI. (Never use "initialise controller" for example, or you've made yourself a paperweight for the drive. It's not a reset, it's an eraser function)

Mostly though you can do lots of stuff without harm, changing how the windows work or which doors unlock with one press, etc.
