We use a Combi Camp Venezia trailer tent for camping and it has proper beds in it . My wife bought a handy looking thing called a Carnopy which fits on the back of a vehicle for outings so you can have a bit of shelter. We haven't used it yet but for £8 from the charity shop it was too good to miss

Yeah, I'd be very tempted by a trailer tent, but haven't got anywhere to put one sadly. They seem decent compromise between wrestling with a tent on the one hand, and having to lug around a caravan on the other.
